Seneca Way photo update: looks like the central stairwell block stack is just about finished (giving a good sense from the ground of how high this building will sit), and the steel framing has come a long way. Seneca Way (the road) is closed during the day now, as the Ithaca Department of Public Works installs a new water main for the project.

Various photos taken from the past couple weeks- the iconic center railway crossing is currently being dug up, and some deeper digging is taking place on the western end. It must be quite a challenge to avoid all the existing pipework- see the full plans from Sasaki (one of the earlier posts on this project) for a sheet showing a map of the existing piping.

Big photo update for a big project site- I’ll grab a few shots from the other side of the hill at some point as well since it gives a really good view of the entire project. The order of these shots goes from the units along State St starting at the Mitchell intersection and progresses down State and onto South Quarry then behind, ending around Quarry Apartments. Building 3.4 is coming along (the one still being assembled), and you can see Building 5’s foundation being prepped. It’s quite amazing how much work has already been done, and furthermore, how much more is ahead. From looking at the site plan, this project is still only about half-way (or perhaps even a bit less).

Nestled between the Rhine House and the new Iacovelli Apartments, this would seem to be the future site of Planned Parenthood along West Seneca St. At the time of Ithacating’s Article, the houses were still up, but they’ve since been demolished and trucked away, leaving behind this nice flat lot seen here. The building design looks quite fresh (see last page of the site plan post), and the three separate driveways onto the previous four parcels will be consolidated into one entry/exit drive.

Located on Spencer St, this site sits roughly behind the Cole Muffler Shop and Mavis Discount Tire in the current car lot and station for Ithaca Dispatch (University, Yellow, Cayuga and Ithaca Taxi) and the future site of the Stone Quarry Apartments. The proposed site plans show the project expanding beyond the current parcel to include an area further North to be utilized as a small park and tenant parking.

Took some shots here of the current Holiday Inn- all single story portions of this property will be demolished to make way for the new nine-story tower and a new single story section with a conference center.

New signage for each lot has been put up within the past week or so, and it looks like we’ll see another house built- Lot #14 has sold, making a total of three (plus the model house, which has been up for some time). The photos of the back end of the parcel make the site look as if there’s no room for the townhouses in the back, but after taking a stroll around the site, it doesn’t seem as small. Once more houses are put up and vegetation grows in, it will probably seem a lot larger.
